Custom Motocross Jerseys: Sublimated MX and Dirt Bike Jerseys for Teams, Clubs and Brands

A custom motocross jersey from Run Moto Apparel is printed flat on 140–160 gsm moisture-wicking polyester mesh, cut on a block drawn from a rider in the attack position, and ordered from a roster: one line per rider, name, number and sponsor logos in the print itself.

Who orders this jersey

Custom MX jersey orders we build: team kit, club run, brand line

Three kinds of custom motocross jersey order come through this page, and one does not. Each starts with a different document, so the first message can be short.

Motocross team in matching custom MX jerseys with names and numbers before round one

Team season kit

A roster with names and numbers, a sponsor list, and a first-round date. The jersey is usually ordered together with the pants so both print from the same saved color profile.

Club jerseys in one design hanging from youth to adult sizes

Club run

One design, members across youth and adult sizes, and new members joining mid-season. The layout, pattern set and color strip are archived so the twelfth member's jersey matches the first.

Brand line

A jersey developed from your tech pack or a reference garment on a shared base block, sampled in your core size, produced from 50 pieces per style with your label. The private label motorcycle apparel path is described on the home page.

Decide these before artwork

Four choices that decide a custom motocross jersey before artwork starts

Fabric weight, sleeve construction, fit and block decide how the jersey behaves; artwork only decides how it looks

Two mesh swatches, 140 gsm and 160 gsm, held to the light

Both are sublimation-grade polyester mesh. 140 gsm is lighter and more open, for hot climates and short motos. 160 gsm is denser, holds fine print detail better and takes more washes.

Wrong choice 140 gsm on an academy fleet that is washed daily wears at the forearm; 160 gsm on a desert summer series overheats riders.
Raglan and set-in sleeve jerseys side by side on the table

Raglan keeps the whole shoulder seam-free for sponsor blocks and rotates with the arm when elbows come up. Set-in gives a tailored shoulder line that brand buyers often want.

Wrong choice A sponsor logo placed across a set-in shoulder seam distorts every time the arm lifts.
Race-fit jersey over a chest protector next to a relaxed-fit jersey over body armor

Race fit sits close to the body so nothing flaps under a chest protector. Relaxed fit goes over roost deflectors and body armor, and suits club riders.

Wrong choice Race fit ordered for a club whose riders wear armor underneath binds at the chest.
Adult, youth and women's jersey blocks hanging together for comparison

Youth is graded on its own block, not shrunk from the adult pattern; women's gear is cut on women's blocks.

Wrong choice A youth rider ordered as an adult XS gets sleeves too long and a body too wide.

Click a choice to bring it forward. All four are confirmed on the size-run set before bulk.

Layout rules

Names, numbers and sponsor logos on a moving rider: layout rules

A jersey is read at speed, from the side of the track, with the rider bent forward

  1. Back number inside one panelThe number sits inside a single pattern piece, never across the center-back seam and never into the drop tail, where it folds under the pants. Its color is chosen against the panel behind it, not against the jersey's dominant color.
  2. Name arc above the numberThe name is set to the panel width, so a long name does not shrink to a strip nobody can read. Special characters and diacritics are confirmed on the layout, letter by letter, before printing.
  3. Front number and chest fieldA smaller front number sits to one side of the chest field, leaving the center for the main sponsor block where a chest protector does not cover it.
  4. Sleeve sponsors between seam and cuffSleeve logos are placed between the raglan seam and the cuff so they read when the elbow is up; a logo that would land on the seam is moved and you are told why.
  5. Minimum stroke checkFine lettering below what sublimation holds is thickened or replaced with the sponsor's bolder mark. Every one of these decisions is visible on the print-ready layout you receive within 48 hours, with the pattern-piece outlines drawn over the artwork.

Layout fact

One layout, locked to the pattern pieces. A sponsor swap next season is an edit, not a redesign.

Seam by seam

Anatomy of a sublimated motocross jersey, seam by seam

Seven parts, each with a job; the print runs across all of them without a break. Switch the season to see the sponsor blocks change while every seam stays where it is.

Pattern outline and seams do not move between seasons; only the sponsor fields are re-issued on the layout.

  • 1
Collar bandHolds shape over a season of pulling on and off; the neck label or your brand label sits inside it.
  • 2

  • 3
Sleeve sponsor fieldThe flat zone between raglan seam and cuff where sleeve logos live.
  • 4

The seam that decides the twist

Raglan or set-in sleeve: why the seam position matters

The seam you cannot see from the stands is the one that decides whether the sleeve twists

R

Raglan: the pitch is cut into the sleeve

The seam runs diagonally from underarm to collar, so when a rider lifts the elbows the seam line rotates forward instead of the sleeve pulling on the body panel. The shoulder becomes one uninterrupted print field, which is why most team kits carry their main sponsor block there.

S

Set-in: the seam sits on top of the shoulder

It gives a tailored line that brands ask for, and it is the right choice when the shoulder carries no logo. A logo printed across a set-in seam distorts each time the arm rises, so when a brand insists on both we move the logo below the seam and show it on the layout.

How to check itOn the size-run set, put a rider on the bike, elbows up.
  • The sleeve print does not twist.
  • The back of the shoulder does not bind.
  • The sponsor block stays flat.
If any of the three fails, the block is corrected before bulk, not after.

Five stations

Custom motocross jersey production: five stations, five checks

A custom motocross jersey order moves through five stations; each one hands a checked result to the next. The rail fills as you scroll past them.

01Layout desk placing names and logos onto jersey pattern pieces on screen

Layout

Artwork, names, numbers and logos are placed on the pattern pieces; a print-ready layout comes back to you within 48 hours for approval.

02Wide-format sublimation printer printing jersey panels on transfer paper

Print

Panels are printed on transfer paper using the team's saved color profile; a test strip is printed first and laid against the archived strip.

03Heat calender bonding printed transfer paper into flat mesh panels

Calender

Heat and pressure bond the ink into the polyester. Panels are printed flat, before cutting, so seams follow the design.

04Printed jersey panel matched to its pattern piece by registration marks on the cutting table

Cut

Each printed panel is matched to its pattern piece by registration marks; a panel that has shifted is reprinted, not trimmed.

05Sewing line with the first custom motocross jersey of a size measured against the size sheet

Sew and inspect

Start-of-line: the first jersey of each size is measured against the signed size sheet. Mid-line: after the first 20 percent, an inspector pulls jerseys across sizes. Final: every jersey checked, then packed by rider.

The check that fails a batch

Print-to-seam alignment: the check that fails a jersey batch

A sublimated jersey has nothing to peel, so the only place it can go wrong is where two printed panels meet

At the cutting table each panel is laid over its pattern piece with the registration marks aligned; the operator checks that the design elements meant to continue across a seam land at the same height on both pieces.

At the mid-line station the inspector checks three places on jerseys pulled across sizes:

  • Side seam, where a stripe or a fade must continue.
  • Raglan seam, where the shoulder field meets the sleeve.
  • Back number, square to the center back.
Reject ruleA misalignment you can see at arm's length is a reject for that style, and the line stops for that style until the cause is found: a fabric lot that moved differently under the calender, or a panel that shifted at cutting.

You receive a start-of-line photo of the first finished jersey next to the size sheet, and the packed-order photo set before the box leaves.

Fabric

Sublimation-grade mesh: the fabric a custom MX jersey is printed on

Why it is polyester, why it is mesh, and what you can specify

Why polyester, why mesh. Sublimation ink bonds into polyester fibre, which is why the jersey is 100% polyester and why cotton is not offered for a printed jersey. The mesh knit leaves open area for airflow and moisture wicking; the weight, 140 or 160 gsm, is the one variable you choose.

What you can rely on between orders. Each order records the fabric lot; if a lot changes the color strip is re-tested on the new lot before printing, and if a fabric is discontinued you get a swatch of the replacement before the reorder is confirmed.

  • You choose the weight, 140 or 160 gsm, and the colorway.
  • We record the fabric lot on every custom motocross jersey order.
  • Not offered: cotton or blends, because sublimation needs polyester.
