Cut from the rider kit, not designed after it. The rider jersey's color profile, saved under the team name when the jersey was printed, is the profile the crew shirt is printed from, on the crew shirt fabric, with a strip laid against the jersey strip under daylight before the run. The sponsor sheet is the same file, scaled to the crew shirt's panels, so the title sponsor sits on the crew's chest at the same proportion it sits on the rider's.

Thread against the strip. For embroidered polos and jackets, the thread colors are picked against the printed jersey strip, and the team logo is digitized once at chest size and once at back size. Crew pieces reordered mid-season pull from the same profile and the same digitized files.

Planned along the day. The crew day runs from unloading the transporter in the cold to standing behind the rider on the podium in the heat. Each role gets the pieces its hours need, not the full set, which is why a six-person crew can be twenty pieces rather than twenty-four. The roster for a crew kit asks for role next to name and size, and the layout comes back with a piece plan per role. The team can change the plan on the layout, before anything is cut.

A mechanic's polo is worn over a base layer and under overalls; the roster asks for the size that works there

A size per piece. The crew roster asks for a size per piece, because the same person is often one size in a fitted crew shirt and another in a polo worn under overalls. The crew jacket is sized over the polo, with the liner in. Before bulk, a size-run set goes to the team so the crew can try the sizes on in the workshop, and the signed size sheet travels with the order through cutting, sewing and packing.

Mid-season, same sheet. A new mechanic is sized from the same sheet and the piece is made from the saved profile, so the new polo matches the ones already on the pit wall.
