Enduro Riding Gear: Custom Jerseys and Pants Built for Hard Enduro

Six hours, not two motos. Enduro riding gear from Run Moto Apparel is off-road riding gear for hard enduro: the motocross kit rebuilt for trees, rock and a rider who stands and paddles more than sits: a reinforced forearm on the jersey, 600D pants patterned for the standing position with room for a knee brace.

Who orders this kit

Who orders custom enduro riding gear: teams, clubs, schools and brands

Four buyers, one thing in common: the gear has to survive the whole day, not just look right at the start.

Decide before the artwork

Four cuts and choices that decide enduro riding gear before the artwork

Where the pant ends, what the knee touches, how long the jersey runs and who gets a name; the colorway comes after these

In-the-boot enduro pant leg next to an over-the-boot leg covering the boot top
In-the-boot · over-the-boot

01Pant leg: in-the-boot or over-the-boot

In-the-bootOver-the-boot

In-the-boot is the race cut, slim below the knee, sitting inside the boot. Over-the-boot covers the boot top and keeps mud and water out of it on long trail days.

Wrong choice An in-the-boot pant on a club that rides in wet forest all season.
Leather inner-knee panel and synthetic inner-knee panel side by side against a bike frame
Leather · synthetic

02Inner knee: leather or synthetic

LeatherSynthetic

Leather inner-knee panels take heat from the pipe and last longest against the frame. Synthetic panels weigh less, dry faster and suit school fleets that go through the wash every week.

Wrong choice Synthetic panels on a hard-enduro team that spends the day clamping the bike between its knees.
Race-cut motocross jersey next to an enduro-cut jersey with reinforced forearm and longer body
Race cut · enduro cut

03Jersey: race cut or enduro cut

Race cutEnduro cut

The race cut is the motocross jersey as it is. The enduro cut adds a reinforced forearm panel, a longer body that stays tucked when the rider stands, and a collar that closes higher.

Wrong choice The race cut on a team that rides through trees all day and comes back with shredded forearms.
Jersey back with a rider name and number next to a uniform club jersey without names
Per rider · uniform

04Names: per rider or uniform

Per riderUniform

Per-rider names and numbers are placed from the roster on each jersey. A uniform kit prints the same design across the run so a school or a club can reorder by size alone.

Wrong choice Per-rider names on a rental fleet that changes riders every weekend.

The wear map

The enduro wear map: six points where off-road riding gear wears out

A motocross kit wears at the seat and the knees; an enduro kit wears in six places, and the panels are placed on that map.

01 FOREARM02 ELBOW03 INNER KNEE04 SHIN05 SEAT06 CUFF STANDING · SIX CONTACT POINTS NOTHING REINFORCED OFF THE MAP
  1. ForearmThrough branches all day. Second layer of mesh over the outer forearm, sewn flat.
  2. ElbowHits the ground on the slow falls, the walking-speed ones on a rock step.
  3. Inner kneeClamps the tank and frame on every climb. Panels run to the top of a knee brace.
  4. ShinTakes the pegs when the rider paddles. Second layer of 600D behind the shin.
  5. SeatSlides over the rear fender on descents. One panel, no seam across the fender line.
  6. CuffCatches levers and bark. Closes tight on both pieces so it does not snag.

Nowhere else. Every reinforcement on this kit sits on one of those six points, because a panel that is not on the map is weight and heat for no reason. The rest of the jersey stays single-layer mesh and the rest of the pant stays single-layer 600D.

How to check itPut the sample jersey on with your gloves and the sample pants over your knee braces. Kneel, stand, put a foot down to the side.
  • Every reinforced panel is under a contact point.
  • Nothing reinforced sits on a stretch panel.

Pattern fact

The brace room is in the block, not in a size up. The waist stays where the roster says.

Collar to cuff · waist to boot

Anatomy of an enduro kit, collar to cuff and waist to boot

Eight parts across the jersey and the pants; the branding is on the chest, back and thigh, never on a wear point.

JERSEYFour parts

Enduro-cut jersey laid flat showing collar, forearm panel, body length and drop tail
Enduro cut
  • Collar and neckCloses higher than a race jersey, soft binding so it does not chafe under a neck brace.
  • Reinforced forearm panelA second layer of mesh over the outer forearm, sewn flat, on the enduro cut only.
  • Body length and drop tailLonger body with a drop tail so the jersey stays tucked when the rider stands on the pegs.
  • CuffCloses tight over the glove so it does not snag on levers or bark.

PANTSFour parts

Enduro pants laid flat showing ratchet waist, inner-knee panels, shin layer and seat panel
600D shell
  • Ratchet waist and yokeRatchet closure with a 4-way stretch yoke behind it, so the waist holds when the rider bends forward.
  • Crotch stretch panel4-way stretch so the pant does not pull when a foot goes down to the side.
  • Inner-knee panels and shinLeather or synthetic to the top of a brace; second layer of 600D over the shin, cut in- or over-the-boot.
  • Seat panelOne panel of 600D with no seam across the fender line.
The standing-position block

The standing-position block: an enduro pant is not a shorter motocross pant

The one pattern decision that decides whether the pant fights the rider on every climb

Standing, bending, foot down. A motocross pant is patterned around a rider who sits and attacks; an enduro pant is patterned around a rider who stands, bends at the hip and puts a foot down every few minutes. The knee is pre-shaped forward so the shell does not bunch behind the knee when standing. The back rise is higher than the front so the waist does not drop when the rider bends forward. The 4-way stretch panels at the crotch and yoke are sized for a full side-step, not a seated position, and the inner-knee panels run higher because a knee brace sits higher than a knee guard.

Brace room in the block. A size up moves the waist, the crotch and the knee at the same time; the enduro block keeps the waist and crotch where the roster says and opens only the knee and the shin. This is why the roster for this kit asks whether the rider wears a brace.

How to check itIn the sample pant, stand on a step with one foot, then squat.
  • The waist stays put.
  • The knee does not bunch behind.
  • Sit on the bike: it still feels like a pant, not a tent.

Braces, boots, size-run set

Enduro sizing from the roster: braces, boots and the size-run set

A rider who orders a size up for a brace gets a waist that drops; the roster asks the brace question instead

Five answers per rider. The roster for an enduro kit asks for jersey size, pant waist and inseam, boot type for the leg cut, and whether the rider wears a knee brace. Riders with a brace stay in their waist size and get the brace room from the pattern. Riders between waist sizes go down, because the ratchet closes in but never lets out past the shell. Youth riders go on youth sizes.

Try it with the braces on. Before bulk, a size-run set goes out so the team can try the sizes on with braces and boots. The signed size sheet then travels with the order through cutting, sewing and packing, and the carton list is checked against it before the box is sealed.

Between waist sizesGo down. The ratchet closes in; it never lets out past the shell.
