The youth block is drafted for a child's proportions: shorter torso relative to the limbs, narrower shoulders, a higher waist. A small adult size scaled down puts the sleeve seam in the wrong place and the knee panel below the knee.
Wrong choice An adult XS on a twelve-year-old because it is on the same size chart.

The youth block
The youth block: drafted for a child, not scaled from a man
A scaled-down adult pattern puts every seam in the wrong place on a child; the youth block starts from the child. Switch the outline to see where the seams land.

From the child's proportions. Children are not small adults in proportion: the torso is shorter relative to the limbs, the shoulders narrower, the waist higher and the neck smaller. The youth jersey block is drafted from those proportions, so the raglan seam sits on the shoulder, the body length stays tucked when the rider stands, and the collar does not gape. The youth pant block puts the inner-knee panel on the knee, the knee room where a youth knee brace sits, and the leg length at the youth boot height. The blocks are graded within the youth range on their own rules, not on the adult grade.
Room for the protection
A youth rider wears proportionally more protection than an adult, and the jersey is cut to go over a roost guard without riding up.

The strip printed for the youth run is laid against the club's archived strip under daylight before the press runs. A roster line, not a new design. When a rider grows out of the kit, the officer sends the rider's name and the next size, and the jersey and pants are printed from the archived strip and cut on the youth block in 15 days. The new size matches the kit the rest of the squad is wearing because it comes from the same file. The roster keeps both sizes against the rider's name, so the second reorder, if there is one, is one line.
Intake works the same way. For a school, a new student is a new roster line in their size, and the youth motocross gear matches the class.
How to check itAsk for the profile name and the strip after the first order; a mid-season size that needs a new sample is not a reorder.

A youth rider who orders a size up for growth gets a jersey over the gloves; the roster asks for the size now
With the protection on. The roster asks for each youth rider's jersey size, pant waist and inseam, and whether they ride with a knee brace and a roost guard. Before bulk, a size-run set in the youth range goes to the club so the young riders can try the sizes on with their protection, and the officer writes the size now against each name. Riders between sizes go up on the jersey for the roost guard and down on the pant waist because the ratchet closes in.
The next size is a reorder. The signed roster becomes the size sheet and travels with the order; a new size mid-season is added to the same sheet.
